Matchplay 2025 Rules

General Rules

  1. Each round will be completed by the date indicated in the draw. An extension to the deadline to play a match must be agreed by the competitors with the coordinator, who will be our Captain David Carroll, David.Carroll@eisneramper.ie

  2. The Captain has absolute discretion on whether to consent to any such extension. In the event that a match is not played by the applicable deadline, the match will be decided by the coordinator based on the toss of a coin.

  3. The competitions will be run and controlled by the IFSC Golf Society.

  4. The top player / pair listed on the draw sheet is obliged to arrange the match, and arrange the tee-time booking (having agreed the timing with the other players).

  5. The IFSC Golf Society will maintain the competition record and will adjudicate where necessary.

  6. All match results should be notified as soon as possible by the winning player to the Captain David.Carroll@eisneramper.ie who will record and update the tables, with a copy also sent to secretary@ifscgolf.ie

Singles Matchplay – Kindly Sponsored by Powerscourt Golf Club

  1. The format of the competition will be singles matchplay, with full handicap difference.

  2. Matches may be played on either course, subject to availability.

  3. Tee times can be booked by phoning Eoin Collopy at Powerscourt on 01 204 6038. All tee times are allocated at the discretion of the golf resort.

  4. The green fee cost is free. Any extras (trolleys, buggies, refreshments, etc.) are payable.

Fourball Matchplay

  1. The format of the competition will be fourball matchplay.

  2. Fourball matchplay allowance rules are lowest person to Zero; rest to 90% of the difference between full handicaps.

  3. Matches will be played on the home course of the top pair listed on the draw sheet. In relation to green fees for this, these are to be paid by the host member and all other players will reimburse the host member on the day. Please make sure that all players know how much the green fee is in advance, when organising a time to play. If neither of the top pair listed on the draw have access to a home course, they should speak to their opponents to find a suitable venue, where green fees can be paid by each individual

  4. The IFSC Golf Society is not responsible for green fees.
